Impact of WHS Changes on HGS from 1st April 2024
It is understood that there are two main changes being introduced that affect HGS events:
1) The "Course Rating minus Par" change
Previously.... Course Handicap = Handicap Index x Slope Rating/113
From 1st April.... Course Handicap = Handicap Index x
Slope Rating/113 + (Course Rating - Par)
NB this can make a difference of +/- several shots
2) No rounding of Course Handicap when calculating Playing Handicap
This makes no difference when Playing Handicap is 100% of Course Handicap (eg Knockout matches)
For competitions where a percentage of the Course Handicap is calculated (eg 95% for our HGS President's Cup rounds) this will sometimes make a difference of +/-1 to the Playing Handicap.
