Mark Boast wins at Cleckheaton

This was our first visit to Cleckheaton & District Golf Club, and it proved to be an enjoyable, challenging start to our 30th Anniversary year events. The weather was warm and sunny - amazing for an April HGS golf day when we were all wearing our new 30th Anniversary jumpers (at least for the first hole!).

The course was in great condition, and was well received by our 23 playing members, only 6 of whom scored over 30 points.

Mark Boast won with 35 points, his first HGS win since 2016, and his 4th overall. He beat Mark Wray (2nd), Lance Porter (3rd) and Brian Williams who each scored 34 points.

Ben Wilson started 2026 with 3 birdies in 3 consecutive holes, with Brian Williams his nearest challenger with 2. Rob Holliday and Lee Chadwick won the Nearest the Pin competitions.

Thanks to Mark Wray for organising this event. A great start to 2026. Next up - Bedale on 21st May.
